This lavender farm is an 8 Acres leisure farm with 7 acres covered in a variety of different lavenders.

Conceptualized in 2017, and after year of planning, planting and preparing, it is opened for the first time just in 2021, and has quickly become a popular summer destination. Their goal is to create a better, cleaner, and greener environment using a eco-friendly natural farming approach.

In case you didn’t know, there are a variety of different lavender plants and the farm will feature a bunch of them. They include: Melissa, Super Blue, Grosso and French varieties of the aromatic flower.

Lavender has a long history of medicinal use and the scent is known to be therapeutic with calming properties.

It is located at 8460 on Steveston Highway in Richmond, and tickets are now available online for purchase. The lavender farm will be open 10 am to 8 pm daily throughout the summer months until the end of August.

There is a gift shop on-site selling lavender-based essential oils as well as a plethora of skin care and cleaning products.

There are eight outdoor pools in Surrey that are now opening or will be opened on June 22nd and admission is completely free!

The pools will remain open until September 2nd. The hours opening hours are dependent of the pools. Entry is at a first come first serve basis, and please note that outdoor pool conditions are monitored throughout the summer and may modify procedures as necessary.

Many of the pools also offer Tides Out swimming lessons for kids. It is important to note though that all children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian in the pool, regardless of age or swimming ability.

Surrey’s Free Outdoor Pools

Bear Creek Outdoor Pool

This pool is now open. From May 13 – June 21, it is open Monday to Friday for public swim from 3:00–4:30pm & 6:00–7:30pm. On weekends, it is open 1:30–3:00pm & 3:30–5:00pm & additionally Saturdays 5:30–7:00pm.

Starting June 22, it will be open Monday to Friday from 1:00–2:30pm, 3:00-4:30pm & 6:00–7:30pm. On weekends, it is open 1:30–3:00pm & 3:30–5:00pm & additionally Saturdays from 5:30–7:00pm. For more information, you can visit their website.

This pool is now open. You can go for a casual swim or take lessons at this pool. There’s also a playground and tennis courts located right next to it.

From May 13 – June 21, it is open Monday to Friday: 3:00–4:00pm & 6:00–7:30pm. On weekends, it is open 1:30–3:00pm & 3:30–5:00pm & additionally Saturdays from 5:30–7:00pm.

Located at the Hjorth Road Park, there is tons of grassy areas to have a picnic at in between swimming. This pool will be reopening on June 3rd.

The Vancouver Parks and Recreation department has announced that the Stanley Park train will have an extended schedule throughout July and August.

Currently running only on weekends only, the train will extend operations to Wednesday through Sunday starting July 3rd. Hence, visitors now have more days available to enjoy the scenic ride.

Guests can step aboard the Urban Forest Train to discover fascinating facts about the diverse flora and fauna of Stanley Park. Additionally, children can earn a Junior Urban Forest Ranger badge during the experience.

Tickets are currently $8.25 for adults, $5.75 for seniors and youths, $4.25 for children and free for kids 2 and younger.

Additionally, the much-loved Halloween Ghost Train experience is set to return in October, bringing back its spooky charm to Stanley Park.

After facing repairs and maintenance challenges, the train is on the right track towards a full comeback. By the end of the year, three locomotives will be pulling ten carriages. This marks a significant recovery, bringing the train close to its pre-2020 capacity.

Plans for new carriage frames and mechanical refurbishments are also underway this month, ensuring that the mini train remains a cherished part of Stanley Park’s attractions.

Looking ahead, the board has hinted at an exciting future: there are plans to potentially convert the train into an electric vehicle. This move would align with Vancouver’s sustainability goals and could give the little train a modern twist, ensuring it continues to delight passengers for many years to come.

This large outdoor space features a 120-seat patio, over 40 craft beers on tap, a full kitchen, and amazing views. This year, they will also be launching a new cocktail program.

About Parallel 49 Brewing’s Massive Patio

The patio was first unveiled in 2021 and soon became a local hot spot for a drink and some food under the sun.  They are open daily from 11-12 am, with a DJ on site on Friday and Saturday nights.

Along with a wide selection of drinks, they also offer an impressive menu of classic pub foods such as nachos, fries, poutine, burgers, tacos, and wings.

Vancouver Art Gallery Free Entry Friday (June 7)

Cultus Lake Waterpark Reopens (June 8)

A sure sign of summer is when waterparks begin to reopen, and one of BC’s classic summer traditions will continue as Cultus Lake Waterpark and Adventure Park reopens on June 8th.

With over 11 waterslides, five large hot tubs throughout the park, a lazy river, and four children areas, Cultus is considered the largest waterpark in British Columbia. Museum of Anthropology Reopens (June 13)

Following an 18-month closure for seismic upgrades, the museum will finally reopen in June. MOA is the first museum in Canada retrofitted with base isolation technology to protect its collections during major earthquakes.

The museum will reopen with two new exhibitions:

• In the Audain Gallery, “To be seen, to be heard: First Nations in Public Spaces, 1900–1965” is an immersive multimedia exhibition exploring how First Nations sought recognition during a period of potlatch prohibition and erasure in Canada.
• In the O’Brian Gallery, Māori artist Lisa Reihana’s “in Pursuit of Venus [infected]” is a panoramic video projection reinterpreting the French Neoclassical wallpaper “Les Sauvages de la Mer Pacifique.”

Admission is free for their grand opening on June 13. There will also be special celebration and music from June 14-16, with half off admission.

This massive waterpark near Vancouver is known for its impressive slides, poolside cocktails and family fun, and it’s officially reopening on June 29 for the summer season.

Located in Tsawwassen, Big Splash is just a 25 minute drive from Vancouver. Yes, you’re that close to all that fun.

Big Splash 2024 Season

This year, the water park will open on June 29th, and will run until September 2nd.

If you’re a big fan, note that limited-time season passes are being sold for $215. They are available for purchase on-site only from May 21st to June 1st, Tuesday through Saturday, 11 am to 4 pm.

What to Expect

With over 10 different rides, Big Splash Waterslide Park has everything you need for a full day of adventure and fun in the sun.

The massive waterslides with various versions of twists and turns, including a 6-storey tube slide called the Boomerang (the only one in Western Canada), adult hot tubs, main pool, kids splash pad, a patio area, and more!

The food and drink area is plentiful as well with: candy shop and cafe, a sports bar and grill, as well as the main grill restaurant. You can also rent private cabanas and tables for the ultimate experience.

Looks Familiar?

If you are thinking Big Splash looks familiar, you are right. The waterpark was once called Splashdown. Take a look back at this nostalgic time and what the park used to look like. 

Because the waterpark was so close to Vancouver, it hosted various end of year school parties and summer birthdays. The long-running park had opened in 1984 and shut its doors in 2016.

Luckily in 2017, it was reopened with new owners, and improvements were put in. So Vancouverites can continue to have hours of fun at this waterpark area that’s only a short drive away.
