The once vibrant community market has been abandoned for nearly two decades.
Now, the City is taking steps towards tearing it down and revitalizing the area.
Earlier this week, City Council approved a plan to tear down the market after it has been sitting there empty for the past 18 years.

Located on the corner of King George Boulevard and 64th Avenue—the goal is to replace the old market with townhouses and apartment suites. The new buildings will be placed on top of the existing parkade.
The proposed development will contain a four-storey apartment building with 36 units and six townhouse buildings with 40 units. The apartment units will be about 1,160 to 1,420-square-feet while the townhouse units will range from 1,095 to 1,980-square-feet.
The buildings will be centered around a courtyard area with seating and a space for children to play.
Many locals have expressed interest in the building being torn down as it’s become quite the eyesore over the years.
