If New Year’s Eve tradition for you means checking out the fireworks at Coal Harbour, you’ll need to find a Plan B this year.

The annual festivities will move to a new location in December 2020, but until then, the event is on hold.

The new locations will be at Concord Pacific Place, Vancouver New Year’s Eve Celebration Society announced, Thursday.

“The new home at east False Creek provides us with the greater flexibility required to fully exercise our ambitions of staging an accessible, world-class event that sparks inspiration, a sense of place, and civic pride,” said Dani Pretto, chair of VNYECS in a news release.

When the event does happen at Concord Pacific, the organization plans to host multiple fireworks barges.

There will be displays outside of buildings, including Science World, that will synchronize with the fireworks.

In replacement of this year’s event, VNYECS will host pop-up celebrations around the community.

What will you do this New Year’s Eve?
