Chez Meme Baguette Bistro is located at 4016 Hastings Street. The location is deceiving because dining here is like being in France. The baguettes are fresh and crispy, the brie is gooey, and the people all speak in a delicate French accent. Just kidding on the last part. Seriously though, try the Lam Jarrett (Lamb Shank Baguette) – it is fantastique!

Anton’s Pasta Bar is located at 4260 Hastings Street. Mama Mia! This place packs a mean punch in the pasta department. Not only is the pasta cooked in house, there are over 70 traditional and original Anton’s pasta creations. The portions are HUGE. If you can eat the whole dish in one sitting, you’ll get a fabulous Anton’s pen to take home. Alternatively, you can take home your luscious leftovers and savour them for two days straight. We suggest the latter.

Paul’s Sub Shop is located at 4608 Imperial Street. This right here is a neighborhood gem. The subs are big, meaty and always homemade. Every single sub is loaded with grilled onions, lettuce, tomatoes, Premium Edam Cheese and Italian dressing. Our personal fave is the Bacon Double Cheese Steak Sub. Strips of bacon, Ribeye steak, cheddar and mozzarella cheese, mayo and BBQ sauce…it’s heaven on bread.

Hi Genki is located at 6680 Southoaks Crescent. This fine Japanese restaurant is tucked away in a senior’s home! Talk about a true hidden gem. For those of you wanting more than just a sushi roll when eating Japanese, then this is the spot for you. Dishes include Chicken Katsu Curry, Beef Udon, and even Tempura Ice Cream. It’s deep-fried, creamy goodness that we definitely recommend you try.

We love the Pork Pad Thai which is accompanied by an extravagant Coconut Soup. The taste still lingers on our tongue – and we love it!

El Comal is located at 7650 Winston Street. El delicioso! This place is more than just a Mexican restaurant with an unbelievably fresh and tasty menu, they even have a market area in which you can purchase tortilla chips, salsa and hot sauce. You can attempt to recreate their amazing food at home, but it’ll be tough competition. We absolutely love the atmosphere and authenticity of El Comal. Try the Sopes – ay caramba, they’re good!

Cockney Kings Fish & Chips is located at 6574 Hastings Street. Batter up! These fish and chips are battered to perfection, the fish is juicy and succulent, and the service matches the quality. Cockney Kings truly is the catch of the day. We suggest you order up a batch of the Fish Tacos! PS – this place is so rad, we wrote about them in our Best Restaurants of New West article, too.

La Fontana Caffe is located at 3701 East Hastings Street. Where else can you order a coffee shake, Pesto Gnocchi, and homemade gelato? La Fontana Caffe takes the traditional café, and shakes it up with some Italian spice! The menu ranges from a variety of sandwiches, such as Classic Italian and Chicken Parmesan Paninis, and even includes burgers, quesadillas and chili nachos. Make sure to challenge the owner, Gian, to a board game while you visit!

Safari Snack House & Grill is located at 5121 Canada Way. You’ll literally feel like you went on an Indian Safari after tasting what this snack house has to offer. Everything from pakora to tandoori chicken, Safari Snack House & Grill is a local favourite spot to eat in or take out. If you’re a vegetarian, this is the place for you! The samosas are out of this world. And we really love the Indian Kulfi ice cream. This snack will keep you coming back!
